Cabs in Singapore ought to be smacked.

Waited for a cab for half an hour today between 9-9.30pm outside Red Dot Traffic Building which is in the CBD area.

THERE WERE SO MANY CABS AVAILABLE BUT NONE WANTED TO PICK UP CUTE INNOCENT PASSENGERS LIKE MYSELF!!!! ARGGGhhhh!!!!!

THe moment i stepped out of the building, i saw a cab parked by the side with its nice friendly blue light on. Moved closer and the driver waved his hand dismissively at me obviously telling me to GO AWAY.

So ok la, i thought to myself. Maybe he's having an important phone conversation, with his girlfriend or something, don't distrub.

Moved further up the road to wait for another cab.... after a futile 5 minutes, suddenly this cab driver backs up to me, i open the door and he mumbles something like

"I pick this guy, Here, On call... you want?"

And i'm like want what?!

"Huh? On call...ok...."

"Yah, you want, charge you on call fee, four dollars."

"waht?!?!??! NO. "

So for half an hour, i waited in vain for a cab who would prove me wrong. Prove to me that the cabbies in Singapore, may not be rich, may not be poor but at the very least have the right ethics and responsibility towards people in Singapore who may be rushing somewhere. Instead of taking advantage of the whole situation to earn more money...

I'm not saying its wrong that they want to earn more money. But for goodness sakes! there were so many available cabs just driving around and ignoring poor me standing on the pavement int he slight drizzle. SERIOUSLY.

How can Singapore improve this situation? We need cabs, but cabs need us too...!
