What makes a best friend?
Do you have someone you can call a best friend?
Its such a tangible term and the word "best" is so subjective. At any point of your life, 'best' might have different conditions. I remember being in primary school and having a different best friend every year! Haha... But I remember two particularly good friends whom i still think about but hardly keep in contact with anymore....

Its been 10 years since the end of my PSLE... but every year for the past 10 years, without fail, I've been receiving a lovely birthday card from Fengqi with a hand written message asking me how life is and wishing me the best in everything i do.
But without fail, every year... Tan Diya this spoilt brat NEVER remembers to send Fengqi a card in return even though her birthday is so so so so easy to remember!
I wish i could be a better friend who like Fengqi, would be 细心 enough to make the effort in writing and posting a birthday card 10 years without fail. Every year, I'll visit the gift shop and pick out a nice birthday card and also one of those forever friend's christmas cards... telling myself that this year will be the year i finally send out these cards to the friends i love and treasure. But if you open my drawer now... you'll find millions of these cards all yellowed and unused. Some written and sealed but with no stamp holding in it messages written with the heart but never to be read.
Recently I recieved another card from Fengqi...
in it she said...

最重要，保持乐观，豁达！ ＝）”
Fengqi...thank you for being my best friend.
For singing along with me on our bus trips to the safety park...
For playing the song linking game with me all the time...
For coming down for recess with me even though you already have your lunch box(white bread!)
For remembering my birthday for the past ten years.
I will never forget you.
If you peeps have a friend like this now... treasure them ok? GOod friends are really hard to come by... and once they do. HOld on and never let go... =)

yupz, i was also naughty during the past, during last time when i was a small kid to a certain time, always stubborn and childish too. but as time passes, will tend to think more positively and tend to know alot of things.
but read your entry till half esp the "friends" part, i just can't controlled my tears. yup in my life, there are few friends of mine that are comfortable to be with. and i really treasured it alot. as there are two more friends, which i dun really know them for years, only can say for 1 year bahx.
but they do encourages me and give me advices, sometimes i really felt i let down both of them, cos sometimes will tend to think too much, and always saying myself useless, indeed i really very useless. think you should know who they two i am talking about. i really very useless!! but i will try to work hard as much as possible. i also will treasure the friendships with them and those friends who worth to be with.
sorry for the long post, do take good care of yourself, and dun tired yourself. dis whole month is your exams' months, tell yourself you can do it! ganbate ne! !

i've never had friends who'd do these kinda things for me. i wish i have. maybe i'm kinda anal...or no "ren yuan".
and it's when u have friends like that, u succeed in life. cos u'll realise u have everything u've ever wanted already.

I don't think you should think that way of yourself... =) For all you know, you might be a "fengqi" yourself. Bringing love to silly people like me who at the end of the day really thank god for creating angels like you all...
it doesn't have to be that birthday card that comes every year. It could be in the little things that are done...maybe the phonecall? The gentle "how are you doing?", the happy pigging out sessions...

yea.. I agree.. Good friends are really hard to come by.. Jus like having joyce,huiyuan and my clique in my class as my good friends.. I will treasure them.. Actually i do still keep in contact wif some of my pri sch and sec sch friends.. haha..
Actually.. Having a best friend and having a good friend is different.. U may have alot of good friends but u may not have many best friends.. Good friends are really hard to come by.. But.. Best friends are even more difficult to come by.. So do treasure them.. =)
