The scent that comes in the night...

My immune system lost the week long fight against the @#%#$@! virus resulting in a sore throat, fever, and running nose. And I think while my sore throat is getting better, I am starting to develop dry cough and a stuffy feeling in my chest.

I can't believe it.

I hardly touched the new year goodies.

I feel like I should have just gobbled them ALL down to make this resultant sore throat a little more worth while.

And to make things worse, I ate like 10 mini tangerines thinking it would make me better since its considered 凉, and my body is so 热。 Only to be told that eating oranges will give me phlegm and a cough. BUMMER.

But i'm thinking a stuffed nose might help in my rendition of those old classics tomorrow.

Anyway, depending on how I am tomorrow, Carrie has very 有义气-ly told me she can swap slots with me if I am still not ok tomorrow. Like what my boss says "A friend in need, is a friend INDEED!"

I am feeling a little nervous about tomorrow's performance now because we only just got the song list partially confirmed, I'll only know what songs I'll be singing when I head down tomorrow afternoon for the sound check. (?!?) And I'm still trying to familiarize myself with as many songs as i can now!!!

So here's the song list(partially) so all you karaoke-addicts can hurry go practice and come down to sing-a-long tomorow. =P

1. 往事只能回味
2. 春风吻上我的脸
3. 夜来香(I can hear some of you laughing. Shudddup.)
4. 流水年华
5. 月亮代表谁的心
6. 大眼睛

there's more than this, but I'm not sure which yet... so you all hurry go practice this first OK!!!

Things to bring:
1. Extra clothes, in case you get too sweaty from grooving to the classics with me.
2. A happy heart.
3. A ready voice.
4. Whoever you can drag along.
5. A bottle of water, in case you get thirsty...

That's about it. I'll see you peeps tomorrow then. =)

Esplanade Concert

Thanks x(t) for reminding me!
This coming Friday, I'll be having an hour long outdoor performance at esplanade's outdoor stage. Well, if you're around the area, come dressed decked in the New Year Colours and join me as I sing a whole string of New Year songs and Chinese Oldies! Haha... Its going to one of a kind concert for me because I was never a Chinese Oldies person. I listen to them, but i have no confidence I can do them well.

But due to the Chinese New Year Period and also restrictions by what the bands can play, it seems dong dong dong chiang songs and Chinese classics are a must! So its going to be a pretty interesting concert by Chen Diya I must say.

Yeah, so do come down to the esplanade this coming FRIDAY, 30th of Jan, 10pm and sing along with me! I'll prepare some gold nuggets for you guys as well... haha. It'll be a pretty informal, let's-just-enjoy-ourselves-and-sing-a-long session.

I'll post the songs I'm singing up in a bit so you all can go get some practice before coming down. Heh.

So remember, its this coming
Friday, 30th of Jan, 10pm @ Esplanade's outdoor stage.

Oh yes, Carrie Yeo will be doing one as well on
Saturday, 31st of Jan, 8.45pm @ Esplanade's outdoor stage
...

dok dok dok CHIANG! TO EVERYONE! SEEYA!

Joyful Giver

This chinese new year, I learnt a valuable lesson from a non-christian which reinforced my very own christian values. This is the first year I gave my parents ang baos.

And it also happens to be the year where many things have happened which has made earning that little bit for 家用 even harder, and is also the year of the economic crisis where car COE has dropped to zero dollars because no one is buying cars.
I knew it was never going to be easy going down this path to pursue my dream, but i never realised it would be this tough.

As I was struggling with the numbers in my bank account and the crisp notes that were in my hands, Carrie said to me "Money can be earned back, things like this you cannot scrimp and save."

It reminded me to be a joyful giver. To give cheerfully and not give in expectance of anything in return. Yes, I think that's something I have to continually work on. It doesn't mean if you give 家用 you are damn 伟大 and should have a say in anything. When you give, you just give because you love and because you know you can never repay them all that they have done in their continual process of upbringing.

2 Corinthains 9: 6 - 9
Remember this:
Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly,
and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give,
not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And so that in all things at all time, having all that you need,
you will abound in good work.
As it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever."

Having said all that, in true blue "I'm only human, I am imperfect" fashion. A little appreciation is of course valued and in turn, GREATLY appreciated. I have heard of many stories from my more mature friends, of unappreciated gestures of love to the best of their abilities because this love, in monetary value, was less than last year's. Hearing this pained my heart...

I am someone who always needs recognition and acknowledgement from my family. Every little thing i do, I hope to receive their blessings. So when I heard this story, I couldn't imagine the pain i would have felt if i were in his shoes.

To be scoffed at and chided for not giving enough, even if it is already a generous sum and you gave cheerfully.

But in encouragement to all cheerful givers who are facing similar problems, God stores your treasures in Heaven. And as much as you are a pauper on earth, you are a millionaire up there. You are a millionaire to me. You are a millionaire to many people who love you.

A very blessed and Happy New Year to all you cheerful givers out there! May God open the floodgates of blessings and wealth upon you!

新的一年,新的开始... 起飞!

新年快乐,心想事成。
开开心心,一起努力!

Class of Singapore Super Trio 08
(warning: loads of photos, lorsoh me.)

"As I walked into the building, I didn't know how to feel. Was i dressed appropriately? Would I look or feel out of place?

I was nervous, and was glad to have Carrie with me. She had volunteered to come and accompany me because she knew i would feel this way.
It felt as though my mum was bringing me to kindergarten for the first time.

Then I saw Junli! And I was happy to see him because that meant there were 2 familiar faces and it helped that I knew Junli was hosting the event. I started to feel more at ease....

The glass doors near the lobby were flung open blinding my eyes with the midday sun-rays and *gasp* I held my breath as a lady in green sashayed over accompanied with her own entourage of assistants and make-up artists. "

And then I stopped. I lost all inspiration... and also I realise, I have returned all my composition writing skills to my teachers in Primary school, Secondary school and JC. Sigh.

Now all i know how to do, is ramble on with no particular structure.

Anyhow, the sashaying lady in green turned out to be Christy! Who was to be the official translator of the Singapore team since she was the only one who spoke fluent cantonese. The rest of us can hardly count in cantonese... oh and Christy is also the hot FHM babe who sings the "wedding of the year" theme song with Hagen!

In a nutshell, it was wackiness to the C-O-R-E. I loved the whole experience even though I didn't get much sleep the first night because we were all pretty hungover from hanging out at Chin Ka Lok's room and I couldn't sleep even though the hotel beds were so comfy because i was aching all over. I am such an old lady. I am in dire need of exercise and free badminton coaches. *hint hint*

The games on the first day of filming had to be the most physically challenging ones. Ok, not had to, IT IS the most physically tiring of the lot. The worst had to be the one on the floating platform because you had to keep your balance and at the same time exert all your 吃奶 strength in a bid to push the opponents off.

I got scratched, tugged at, and almost had my sports bra pulled off. YIKES!

Well, to be fair, I scratched, tugged at and almost pulled off quite some modesty off the hk artistes themselves.

But they're really strong and experienced in the games! In one of the rounds, I was supposed to charge over to their float and attempt to knock them off balance. I LEAPED over and LUNGED forward, and *WHAM* hit a brick wall of bodies, had my nose reattach itself to Toby's elbow and fell into the water, causing NO damage to them AT ALL. brilliance at its worst. -_-"

But we had ALLAN WUUUUU!!!! SO we had nothing to fear. He was the ultimate 铁甲人 man. He was the unbeatable Allan WU. He was Mighty WU. He totally made up for midget Tan.

They had Allan against like 101 different combinations of artistes, and he beat all of them without fail even when he was totally vandalised with red, blotchy scratch marks all over and totally exhausted. Mighty WU.

I shouldn't be telling you all so much. I think even if you sat me down at a Kopitiam over 10 cups of teh-o-peng-siu-dai. I couldn't finish with the stories of adventure i accumulated over the 3 days spent at Sentosa. So I'll not bore you with my words any further and let the pictures speak for themselves!

At the press conference

Team Singapore gearing up for the games in their
own unique singapore 'anyhow anyhow do warm-ups' style.

Looking cheery and DRY before the games
(spot bosco)

First Game: Human Hula
Juxtapose: Sound man's tangled wires, Me tangled up with Ben.
I was so giddy after being spun around 13 times
within 60s by Ben I felt like puking...

Preparing for the second game...
on Mighty Wu's mighty shoulders.
Juxtapose: Midget Tan on Mighty Wu

I couldn't bring glory to Singapore in terms of the
FFF(flesh flash factor) but i did try my best at trying
to chomp on the pineapple while balancing myself
on Ben's skinny shoulders

(poor guy, i think he was crumbling under my weight!)

And then it was the Floating Platform battle!
dee: "We have to tape our fingers????" *incredulous*

Organiser: "To prevent your fingernails from being pulled off (0_0!)
and so artistes don't hurt each other..."
Dee: "orh....."
I had scratches and Bruises even when fighting with taped fingers.
Can you imagine the bloodshed had we not taped our fingers?!?

Still looking cheery.
Totally oblivious to the perils of the challenge...

Not so cheery anymore huh?
Here we bare our teeths(and our taped fingers) in vicious tenacity.
Grrrr!

This is like the ONLY shot of Allan in the water.
Its a PRIZED shot. It is more than a shot of Allan in water.
It is a shot of Allan falling into the water with BOTH feet UP!~~
spot: Bed walking on water! Ben jumping teams!

Final deathmatch. Two Singapore Girls vs Two Canto Queens.
We stayed in this position for the longest time ever.
Angela Tang Ying Ying(girl in my arms) kept giving me flying kicks in the stomach but i held on for my dear life.

It was a tie. YAY!!!!

Hamming it up for the camera.

Sun burnt.
(left to right: Jac, Ben, Stich, Mag. Christy and Alan's missing!)

The great team of boys at NUM vivo who helped me get
a great discount
on the Singlet I wore at the games.
They were so friendly and bubbly and... cute!

Thank you guys! I really really really appreciate it!

Long post eh?

Too much stuff to blog about on this... there's still lotsa shaving cream, lotsa morbid fun, lotsa goofing around that i haven't blogged about!

so I'll continue on another post next time...some time... SOON!

Growing Up together!

I am so so egg-cited!
I just saw this on kkj's blog, and I had to share it with all of you!
I am so egg-cited! (did i say that already?)
Its ST's RazorTV, and out of the 6 people on this show, 4 of them are my friends! Ahh!!!
I am so egg-cited! (sorry...for the lack of vocabulary...)

Man, are we growing up or what. Are we letting that little light in us all shine in one way or another OR WHAT? I love the fact that our paths are crossing ever so often these days... I love that feeling of knowing that all of you are doing so well and just the EGG-citement of seeing so many familiar faces on ONE show.

Our dreams are intertwined in more ways than one.

I love it that we might be working down different paths, but we're not alone.

This is one cosy world.

OH I AM SO LOVING THIS FEELING.

MUST SHARE. MUST SHARE.

MUST SEE. POH KWAN. IN. BLACK. STOCKINGS. OMG.

CLICK HERE NOW TO SHARE MY EGG-CITEMENT!

sidenote: the clip that keeps throwing numbers in your face can be a tad lengthy but get pretty mind boggling i must say. Especially the part about "the female's brain is more densely packed with neutrons..." Woah.

Thrilled - lah.

Will be appearing at 5.30pm at IMM garden plaza tomorrow together with Jiahui and Mandy to do a brief Q&A session regarding the new thriller movie "Wedding of the Year". OK its not really a thriller... but it thrills me that I'm going to be appearing for TWO WHOLE SECONDS!!!

Hence, it SHALL, in my blog terms, be called "thriller of the year - Wedding of the year" .

I don't care what you say.

So, if you're in the area, or just feel under the economic weather and want some free gifts, or like me, am a huge fann of fann and chris and the movie. Come down to show your support ok?

I just saw the thriller movie trailer on youtube. It's hilarious! I can't wait!

Oh, and I'll be on okto live next tues, its a live show on the new channel okto which used to be kids central and vasatham(correct me if i'm wrong). I think its a cool show, simply because its made by youths for the youths. Its going to be worth a watch. =)

Anyhow, I didn't ask for tickets, but let me know if any of you wanna trot down to watch it in the tv theatre and I'll try to ask for the prized entrance tickets. =)

I dreamt of toby and ben and christy and jac and angela and allan and mag last night. After fully recuperating from all the bruises and scratches. It seems I miss those days, and I wouldn't mind reliving it all over again. It felt like JC orientation...

Rant Rant Rant

As much as I told myself 2009 would be good, reality has it that the first 2 weeks of 2009 has simply been one crisis after the other! But then there was the Super Trio filming and also and angel who called to tell me something real cool might be taking place in May 09 that lifted my spirits.

Other than that, I've just been trodden all over, and there's really nothing I can do about it. You know how mediacorp drama's always have the character who totally 走投无路 and like lose all sensibility and try to ram the person who 害她 down with a truck? With the crazed expression and tortured scream? Ha... yeah. Recently, a couple of us have been contemplating this... haha. But we won't do it lar. (just re-read my blog post, just to clarify. No la, not you. That was 2008... moving on!)

Like what Cheer Chen says... to her, 太阳 is hope. And this hope comes from the existence of a TOMORROW. If all fails, there's always tomorrow to make up for it. And if that doesn't work out... there's always another tomorrow. If you give yourself a chance to live it. =)

Recently got into a little bit of trouble over my blog posts. Well, I don't mean to offend anyone, but if in the process of me recounting my experiences and releasing steam through my blog post, I have irked or pissed off anyone... I'm sorry. But I also hope anyone who reads my blog doesn't take things simply at face value, but put yourself in my shoes and imagine yourself in a similar situation and gain something from it other than just pure entertainment!

I wanted to blog about Super Trio, but i can't seem to upload photos lei.

So I think I'll read a book.

And come back tomorrow or something.

Make life's 绊脚石 your 踏板 to greater heights

Saw this on Dwarfy's blog and felt quite disgusted by what was written...

I know gossip columns don't have to be factual and truthful much less when the real name is not spelled out for all to see (hint: S-H-A-W-N-T-O-K) but I think there has to be some kind of respect for truth ,regardless.

Firstly, the story is hardly funny or entertaining.

Secondly, half of it is just crap produced out of nowhere to fill up space in a magazine to 交差 and to create some kind of awareness for the column.

If the reporter is reading this, please don't be offended. In some way, you have achieved you goal. This articles is circulating around our blogs, meaning people are taking notice of this article, taking notice of this 黑武士 person. So in other words, you have succeeded in our own right.

All I'm trying to do here, is clear Ah-Tok's name.

He's a good boy.

Yes, he is going through puberty.

Yes, he would like to be a singer.

NO he is not giving up his studies for that.

Seriously, give us Singer's some credit... regardless of our age, just because we want to be singer's doesn't mean we're impractical, naive or brainless. We have a dream. And as impossible as this dream may sound, don't belittle our effort and the mental and physical tenacity we need to have in order to pursue this dream.

And to rebutt your last statement to Natasha and Tommy, singers no longer earn from selling albums, they earn from filming movies and endorsing products. Ah-Tok has done both...

Yes, kids... don't 好高骛远. Studies come first, especially at such a young age, but let me encourage you to also pursue your interests and your dreams. Because all work and no play makes you a really dull person.

Its really up to you to strike the balance and do what is good for yourself.

铁甲无敌奖门人 snippet

7th till 9th of Jan 2009.

Absolutely memorable second week of Jan 09.

I did so many crazy things in 3 days I don't think it'll ever match up to anything that has happened before or is about to happen.

WOW.

I'm slightly wuzzy now because two shots of 'i have no idea what' is just swimming around in my blood stream now. I 'escaped' from their clutches because I have a performance tomorrow at Ngee Ann Poly Open House, and i need to be sober. Haha... not a good excuse I know.. but technically speaking. Today's not the last day yet LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR.

Anyhow, I've had a fantastic time with the HK stars. They're an amazing bunch. So full of energy all the time and so... SHINING SHINING. One look at them and you'll go "you're famous right? You're like some kind of a celeb or something." It kinda justs comes off them...

But i must say the language is a huge barrier for me.
Half the time I don't understand their jokes... and they crack jokes ALL THE TIME. They're like a bunch of comedians or something. Damn candid, Super straight-forward.

OK. Toxins have totally infiltrated my mind.

I shall blog no more.

Sneak Peek with Peektures. (hullo pk!)

OK. GOODNIGHT.

Wednesday, January 07, 2009

Where do i begin?

Current Location... A really cool hotel in Sentosa.

Current Mood... Fearfully Excited.

Current Mission... Survive three days of filming with a HK TVBI crew on a really famous Hk variety show and come out of it happy and fulfilled.

I am freaking out because they are rather insistent on making me wear bikinis. But I am as insistent that i am not about to freak the world out with my three best friends, the three little pigs. I am adamant that the show will have high ratings even without me baring flesh. And I have also made it clear that I am from "kids central". Very innocent and conservative. Please don't force me.

The day starts tomorrow at 7am. I am trembling with excitement.

Oh, did i mention Bosco Wong is in the same hotel with me? And he's in the show too?

OK, girls, squeal. Goodnight!

Updates:

Filming went really well today, and we ended alot earlier than expected, thus giving us time to all chill at an outdoor pool overlooking the sentosa coast. Sweet. =) I'm the youngest around I think, and most of the time, I just listen in awe. At the amazing(and sometimes painful) HK film industry culture.

And then i had a wee bit of time to myself in the comfy hotel room to just nua and watch some local Tv(haha!) ...

Life's good this way. But I'm burnt to the C-O-R-E.

Alright, its dinner time. To all those camping outside the hotel... take care!
And See ya when i see ya. Ciaoz!
