Hedonistic

Yikes. "hedonistic day" is what Mono considers today to be...hah!

Well, we did swim one and a half(long) laps...

Haha!

Next time, we get goggles ok. So i don't feel so much like a terrapin the next time i swim...

But overall, yeah, I want to make sure the fun factor is in everything I do. Sometimes, even when people talk to me about serious topics.. i really just wanna joke about it all and still be serious. But its hard, cuz once you joke about it, they think you're rude and not being serious.

But whatever that has conferred WAS heard and WILL BE pondered upon.

Ok, I shall stop forcing myself to give a serious face at serious conversations. Then maybe my wrinkles won't form so quickly...

I think I'm really not the thinking, intellectual sort. But that doesn't mean I'm shallow. I'm just not too good with expressing my thoughts or perspective on things. I listen, and I learn...

So many people I've been listening to and learning from. Brilliant.

Absolutely brilliant, their take on life and life's philosophies.

But let's say, I give it a good thought, and when the times comes, its still the 'feeling' that takes over instead of the mind that leads...

Although I am training my mind to do more frontline stuff... cuz the problem with going by feel is that you forget really quickly. Sometimes I look back and cannot figure out why I made that particular decision... its like in 20th century Boys, where Kenji can't remember the "glory" days as part of the "20th century boys" and has to be nudged left right centre before he recalls "the prophesy book" and the nasty prophesies.

I think I'm like that.

And I like it.

Why so serious?

that's just life
寻找梦里的未来
that's just life

that's just life
徘徊到不再徘徊
that's just life
重来都不怕重来
没有选择的时候
不能选择的时候
一直都在

I've got a friend in all of you. All of you, regardless of race, religion, age...
I love you all. And i hope one day, I'll do you all proud.

加坡金曲奖2008 on .sg

Thank you 'xi' for the info!

I'm pretty excited even though its a really small segment of the show... In fact, I'm very very keen to do very very well because so many great inspirational music people will be watching. If you haven't got your tickets for SHA, go get them now! Know why?

Cuz 宥嘉 will be there!!!! and MAYDAY!!!! and so many many more... but hor. Don't forget to scream for the local music heroes like Xiaohan, Eric, Jim, Jiahui etc. (*erhem* me...but i not hero la.) because we have the same NEWater running through our blood. Hur hur...

In other happy news, I got my polaroid camera.

Bad news?

It will cost me 3 dollars per picture because it cost me 29.50 for a pack of 10 films.

29.50 divided by 10 is 2.95 bucks.

Because Polaroid has closed down its film making factory and laid off 450 workers(according to wiki) and this means that one fine day.... my polaroid camera will truly be VINTAGE(or in drastic terms, Obsolete). And will have no more ammunition to sustain itself. Sigh.

My polaroid film costs alot more than my camera!!!!! Argh!!!

But I'm very happy with my buy. Except that i can't camera whore with my polaroid camera. I have to scrimp and save, and i have to think THRICE before pressing my finger down on the shutter knob. But i know i'm definitely gonna be pressing the knob down a couple of times over this weekend at SHA.

Let's Go!

Birthday Wish

I wish for many more wishes.

Haha. Greedy i know,

but... 我不care。

cuz its my birthday! Although its a flu stricken and crampish beginning of my birthday...

Its not here and I already think its here.

I bought my Baby Taylor a Baby chair for it to sit on and for me to sit on and play it. I'm Soup-er happy with my buy, and its partly sponsored by my dearest boss who helped build and signed on it. She signed "Blessed Chair, Rebecca". And yes, it will be a blessed chair and i hope to penn blessed songs using blessed baby taylor on the blessed chair.

Baby Taylor sitting comfortably
(which is a much less guniang name than 'barbie')
on blessed chair.

These few days, everytime i see something I like. I'll have the urge to buy it(obviously). And normally, as most mature and self-controlled adults would do, I curb my urge to buy the "want", weigh the pros and cons of buying it and most of the time managed to successfully stop myself from getting poorer.

Its been tough. I keep telling myself "ahah! Another birthday present for myself!"

I'm spoiling myself silly... but thank goodness. I didn't manage to buy that really CHIO adidas shoe because it didn't have my size. And still haven't gotten my hands on that polaroid camera, cuz I haven't gone pass ANY photo shop that sells them old school ones. I might just settle for one of those mini ones if i can't find one by Sat.

I wanna take polaroid picture with Yoga. *beams*

Polaroid pictures have this special filmic quality about them that makes it feel as though the memories of that moment are sealed within the four white walls of the photo forever... and unlike digital photos, the polaroid fades sepia over age, in a graceful manner that is just so poetic and beautiful.

Today Fengqi sent me the xxth birthday card ever since we became friends years ago in nanyang primary school. I know you're reading this. =)

Dear Friend, I couldn't help smiling to myself when i received the card in your handwriting... its the same handwriting since primary school! Thank you for your birthday wishes.. I will work hard in achieving my dream. If i do succeed in writing songs... maybe one of these days... you could help me fill in the blanks? =)

Its been a meaningful 22nd year for me...

I hope in my 23rd year on this earth, under the heavens, under the watchful eyes of God Almighty, of my parents, of the people around me and the people who support me, that I may be a successful singer and that there will be no regrets to look back on.

Let's ROck!

Snippet of my life that i still remember now...

Watched "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" over at Su's last night. I think the show was absolutely brilliant.

The funny thing is, i didn't think it was very brilliant after finishing the show...but this morning I woke up and I found myself thinking of the movie and how beautiful some of the lines in the show was.
And then i concluded "I think the show is brilliant."

I normally watch movies, rave all about it for like the next half an hour over supper and then chuck it right into some deep obscure corner of my brain never to be opened unless necessary(like social knowledge needed at PR-ing situations...)

But i found myself sub-counsciously thinking of the movie, about how interesting the idea is. That people might be able to erase specific memories of people.... people who have hurt them in a relationship or have done something to affect their lives someway or another.

But in every relationship that ends, there will always be the good and the bad memories. And when you erase the memories, you erase them ALL. The good and the bad.

I don't have a witty punchline for this post, I didn't finish the show with any conclusion of sorts... just a thought to occupy my mind with. If i had a choice, would i erase any of my memories...? Would it make me a better person? Less burdened perhaps? And less wary?

here are some of my favourite quotes of the movie...

Joel: Constantly talking isn't necessarily communicating.

[Mary reads to Dr. Mierzwiak out of "Bartlett's Familiar Quotations"; the lines are from Alexander Pope's poem "Eloisa to Abelard"]
Mary: How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd.

[as Joel and Clementine eat out, he thinks about the other glum-looking couples in the restaurant]
Joel: Are we like couples you see in restaurants? Are we the dining dead?

Mary: Adults are, like, this mess of sadness and phobias.

Clementine: This is it, Joel. It's going to be gone soon.
Joel: I know.
Clementine: What do we do?
Joel: Enjoy it.

In a nutshell: (sorry for plagiarising)

"Hi peeps,

Diya and I are talking to a tour agency about 代團!!! The tour agency is proposing 2 locations - Taiwan or Beijing. It'll be a 8-Day Tour for both locations. Taiwan will be $200 more expensive than Beijing. So we would like to get a quick poll. If you are choosing a holiday, which location will you prefer? I know it's not easy to make a decision without all the other details like tour itinerary and stuff. But just want a rough idea on which location is more attractive. I've done up a poll at the side bar. Please vote asap k? We need an idea urgently.

Thanks!"

Love,
什么都能CARRY 的 CARRIE !

If you've voted at Carrie's blog, don't repeat your votes here ok? Thanks!

Eyes forcibly Wide Open

Super tired now because I had a girl's stayover with P and C last nite. It was really fun... I miss the Nippon 6 and also my farm family and dearest Mono and Waiyin and Lian Bang gang.

A girl's night out is so precious.

I love being a girl and having all these great girl friends.

Guys don't really have such stay-overs rite?

You guys are missing out so much in life. Hur hur.

Anyway, I am really exhausted now but I have to come online to post this...

http://www.mediacorpradio.sg/yes933/215/

This is 215约定‘s official website. If you've missed any of the episodes, you can go online and read the actual scripts. (you can even make pretend you are one of the characters and do like a monologue in the comfort of your own room. I know i would. Haha.)

Its coming to an end and I'm definitely very honoured and proud to have been able to be a part of this... I hope you all have enjoyed it as much as I have. I almost cried the other day listening to Min Shan's voice message for Yue en.

On the 11th, 100 lucky listeners will be able to 抢先 listen to the last 5 episodes. Heh, I'm the lucky 101th cuz I'll be at 爱琴海 with the other 100. I'll be performing two of Chong Qing's songs which were performed by Yue Ling in 215.

Be there or Be Square.

And now... before i officially shut down my computer and my put my brain and body to sleep...

WANNA SEE WHAT "BARBIE" IS?

Tadah! Its a Baby Taylor!

Its smaller than the normal sized guitar and its in my arms like
a baby being cuddled by its mummy... Its my Barbie!

That's the size of a normal guitar
compared to my little Baby!

This means that all of you are very smart (or my hint was simply too obvious) since most of you guessed correctly. Its not an electric though, its an accoustic.

I wish i could hug it to sleep, but I'm afraid I'll drool over it and ruin the pretty mahogony wood it is made off.

Oooh, I've been dreaming of Barbie quite alot these nights. Heh.
I'm off to frolick in lalaland with Barbie!
Goodnight everyone!

New Addition to the Family

I received my advanced birthday present yesterday.

It's a gift from Carrie, My boss and
My dearest Ee and Un Ho.
(I took the liberty of including you in since you are Husband. Haha.)

Can you guess what it is?

I call it my 'Barbie'.

But I won't want to dress it up, I like it looking all Raw and Naked.( sounds wrong.)

I can't keep my fingers off it.

My fingers dance and prance around whenever they come into contact with "Barbie".

And my ears have been greatly nourished by this new addition to the family...

My "Barbie" girl is a....

Nope, My "Barbie" isn't really chummy with Elmo...

"Barbie" sometimes needs a little waxing and cleaning up,
but no Sun-tanning lotion puhhh-lease...

No. My "Barbie" ain't slit-throat material...

Hmmm, yeah.
My "Barbie" might look something like this...

Make a guess!

The Grand Prix : fast cars and painful ears.

Yes! I am even more inspired to burn the tyres the next time i go to JB to go kart!

The two days of watching formula 1 racing was so full of drama and thrill and skill that it is so worth it even though i am close to being half deaf now....

Day 1: Me and Andrew, just after
entering the grandstand area that has loads of activity going on... it had a stage with performers, countless booths that sold F1 merchandise... BMW, Mclaren, FERRARI!

I was so so tempted to lay my hands on the yummy merchandise that was on sale because I am such a sucker for memorabilia at events! But the stuff were so pricey with normal t-shirts going at $80 the least an caps at $55 dollars! Plus... the ferrari counter was full of huge foreign people(why are we singaporeans so tiny? Or is it just me?) I think i might have died trying to squeeze through.

So we moved on to where the ACTION really is...

Day 1: Carrie and Me at the Pits Grand Stand. behind us is turn number one. Its the first turning after the beginning of a lap~

And since it was such a big event... I had to borrow Dan's Nikon DSLR from him! But there was a small problem... he lent the normal lens to a friend, so he only had the long lens and the wide angle lenses with him. Thinking I would need longer lens to take pictures of the cars.. I brought the long lenses along... BAD IDEA.

Day 1: The camera was SUPER heavy with the long lens on! I had a blister on my finger when i got home... And i was actually rather near the track and the only picture i could take with the long lens... were the following few.

Day 1: I just kept snapping paparrazi shots of the rich corporate people enjoying the race in the comfort of aircon and with food and drinks in the paddock club area directly opposite us.

Day 1: Trying to Spot Jay Chou or Jimmy Lin...

Day 1: And the car pits are just under where the paddock member are enjoying their drinks... directly opposite us was team Force India, one of the drivers crashed twice in the same turning.

Day 1: Fernando Alonso, Grand Prix Champion 2005-2006 crashed out at 15th place during qualifying. Ouch. But he made a historic come back the next day by winning the race! WOO~!

I reached home at about 1.30 am that night, bathed and then drowned myself in the rules and regulations of F1 racing... i feel quite knowledgable now.

And then it was the day that the first F1 race to be held in Singapore was to begin, laser lights spelling out words of thanks to all who were there were flashing in green on the tall buildings thanking everyone for being a part of this historic race...

Day 2: Walking to the Gate that would lead us to the pits Grand Stand...

Day 2: We took almost 2o minutes before squeezing through the crowd at the Ferrari counters. I almost died under the weight of a foreigner's huge belly. It was humongous. And he didn't seem to have any consciousness that his belly was in my face.

Day 2: I bought my brother a Ferrari Kimi Raikkonen shirt and a Ferrari Sweater for Bjorny Boy( my cousin). Haven't given it to him yet though...

Day 2: Yay! Finally, after a long walk, we reached the block that we were to be seated at! A7!

Day 2: Can you tell that we are extremely excited??

Day 2: All the cars were lined up and ready to go... with all the technicians still fussing over the drivers and the cars and the Singapore Grid Girls holding the respective country flags and strutting their stuff. Why must racing and soccer always come with skimpily clad girls? So degrading la.

Day 2: And how can i live without posing for a solo picture on site?

Day 2: Can you see the car?

Day 2: See it yet?

Day 2: That's really just me wearing my favourite red sweater zooming off at super sonic speed to avoid the ERPs.

Day 2: That's the supersonic police chasing after me because i didn't pay ERP.

Day 2: And that's me really happy, cuz I escaped unscathed.

Day 2: oh! This was real exciting.. if you were watching, you would know that Massa fell from pole position to 13th because of a stupid mistake the team leader made by giving the green light to go before the fuel pipe was detached from the car. The technicians then had to do a 400 metre sprint to where Massa was and started a frantic tug and pull session in a bid to remove the fuel pipe. This picture shows the technicians carrying the pipe off...

Day 2: We're dare-devil drivers. Really. I drive go-karts as though I invest millions in insurance. And Chia Rou has driven at speeds of up to 200km/hr on JB and American roads.

Day 2: Oooh, 1300 dollar seats plus 10 dollar satays and 20 dollar champagne. The champagne was good though. It tasted of victory. Sweet Sweet victory. (its what the winner drinks when he wins... Alonso had it at the end of the Singapore race. )

Day 2: Chia Rou's 紧张 look.

Day 2: And that's all! Happy and fulfilled that we were witness to truly a historic race of a lifetime with the result being so so so unpredictable and with so much drama going on throughout the 61 laps.

Yayness. I finally finished this post... heh... good memories. =)

Oh yes. Happy Children's Day!
And a Happy Hari Raya Puasa!
