Times

If i could just touch it,
tell it to wait for me,
stop the leaves from dropping,
the sky from changing,
if the moments could all be contained,
time would be my friend.

The choices we made,
the life we live,
if time was friend,
lines would bend.

The fats are growing up,
too fast too fast too rushed.
I don't want to not be able,
to bring them out for lunch.
If time was my friend,
perhaps all this would be.

I made the choices I made,
and time is not to blame.
The kids won't always be kids,
and I won't always be free.

Love is and will always be,
the antidote to time and dreams,
and time is to me,
what a honest good friend would be.

You can't hold on to money,
you can't hold on to time,
you can't hold on to love,
you can't hold on to the world.

But if there's one thing I've learnt through time,
if that I give up the time,
or money or love,
the feeling is greater than having it all.

But its harder than I say it is.

Only because we're all selfish human beings.

So thank you for all that I've been given.
Your time,
your money,
your love.

Only time can tell,
if I will pay it all duly well.
